Wigan Knights Chess Club The Alan Boggis Memorial Club Championship Rationale: To provide additional interest for players on club nights when there is no match arranged, an organised competition will run through the season under the following rules. - The championship may take place on any club night up until the end of May 2011.
- All players should arrange their own matches with each other playing every other player twice, once with each colour.
- This is a handicapped rapidplay tournament which will run on the basis of giving the weaker player a time advantage. This will work in the following way: Both players will commence with 30 minutes on the clock, then, for every 5 points difference in grade, 1 minute will be taken off the stronger players time. The maximum amount of time that will be taken off the stronger player will be limited to 10 minutes.
- Ungraded players will be given a provisional grade for the purpose of the competition. This may be altered during the competition if it becomes apparent that it is inaccurate.
- All match results should be reported to Paul Talbot who will record all results on the website and update the championship table.
- In the event of any dispute, the board position should be recorded and the dispute reported to P Talbot who will make a decision regarding the matter.
