Welcome to Wigan Knights Chess Club.  Wigan Knights is a chess club with a rich history and an exciting future.  Since the merger of Wigan Chess Club and Knights Chess Club in 2006, Wigan Knights continues to be a successful, growing, and friendly chess club suitable for players of all ages and all levels.

Wigan Knights has a reputation for developing new players and beginners intro strong club-level players who can hold their own in competitive play.  We do this with regular training sessions using demonstration boards, coaching from strong players and simply taking the time to answer questions, analyse, and play games.  So if you're in the Wigan area and interested in chess, whether this be a friendly game over a pint, or a competitive game in the Warrington and District Chess League, then we are the club for you.

Where can I find you?

We meet at 7:30pm every Thursday at St Jude's Social Club, Poolstock Lane, Wigan, WN3 5JE (right at the traffic lights just 400 metre from Marus Bridge roundabout).

Do I have to pay?

The annual membership is £30 per year, or £20 for anyone who does not wish to play competitive matches.  For those in full-time education fees are £25 (or £15 if you do not wish to play in competitive games).  The club will pay ECF (bronze) membership for anyone who plays matches (this costs £15).

If it's your first time and you just want to try us out then don't worry, there is no fee for visitors.
